The National Heart Foundation states...
- some deep fried chips can be up to 25% fat.
- They are often pre-coated in beef tallow - high in saturated and trans fats - and deep fried in a variety of oils, some of which are also high in saturated and trans fats.
- Saturated fat raises blood cholesterol levels, a major risk factor for heart disease.
- Trans fat is bad for your heart and is thought to be worse for you than saturated fat.
- Like saturated fat, trans fat increases the level of bad LDL cholesterol but, worse, it seems to also lower the concentration of good HDL cholesterol that's protective against heart disease.
Low-fat, no cholesterol FitChips taste delicious and are just as "satisfying", without the greasy aftertaste (and guilt!) that you get when indulging in deep-fried chips.
